Daybreak Youth Services employees and clients test positive for COVID-19 in Spokane, WA.

Daybreak’s commitment to our core values of safety and trust are part of the guiding principles for the work we do; helping adolescents recover from mental health and substance use disorders. Because of our steadfast belief in these values, we are voluntarily informing the public that we have just determined that two of our staff members and four of our residential inpatient clients tested positive for COVID-19.

We immediately reached out to the Spokane Regional Health District and are working closely with their team to assist our organization through this process as we track, trace, and conduct tests on all of our clients and any staff that may have been exposed.

In order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients, staff, and community, we are temporarily halting our all Spokane inpatient admissions, we will continue to admit male admissions to our Brush Prairie facility. We implemented policies and procedures guided by the CDC, and other state health agencies in March, which includes but is not limited to; mandatory masks, daily employee and client health screenings, temperature checks, twice-a- day sanitation and cleaning protocols, and access to our 24/7 on-call internal nursing team. We will continue to adhere to these policies and work with experts in the field as we navigate COVID-19 to ensure the safety of our clients, staff, and the community at large.

“We realize that we are just one of many local organizations and businesses facing COVID-19,” said Daybreak’s Director of External Relations, Sarah Spier. “Spokane is a city built upon resiliency, and on behalf of Daybreak, we send our well wishes to all those who are also experiencing the effects of COVID-19 within our community.”
