This free educational forum presents a rare opportunity for members of the public to hear directly from a group of Daybreak clients, and to ask them questions.

Each of the panelists has volunteered to share their personal story (an empowering experience), including what led them to treatment, their journey through the recovery process and their hopes and dreams for the future.

Tours of Daybreak’s Brush Prairie facility, the RWC Center for Adolescent Recovery, will be also available.

Daybreak Youth Services will hold its next Conversations with the Community event on Wednesday, May 30 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at its Brush Prairie facility (11910 NE 154th St., Brush Prairie, WA).

The free-to-attend educational forum will focus on Emerging Drug Trends: Building Awareness & Finding Solutions. A panel comprised of community experts will discuss the substances teens are using, the forms they come in, how they are being obtained, warning signs for parents and more.

The inaugural forum, which will be held on Wednesday, February 21 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at Daybreak Youth Services (11910 NE 154th St., Brush Prairie, WA), will focus on Young People & Addiction: Separating fact from fiction.

The event will kick off with a presentation on the neurobiology of addiction by James Jensen, Clark College instructor and addiction counselor, followed by a panel discussion of the myths and stereotypes associated with the disease. Panelists to be announced in the coming days.

Those who attend the event will learn how effective communication can reduce the stigma of addiction, and tours of Daybreak’s new Brush Prairie facility, the RWC Center for Adolescent Recovery, will be available.
